Finally finding the right house is the best part of any house hunt. At last, you’ve discovered that property which speaks to your heart. Even if it isn’t perfect now, you know that it will be. Still, no matter how potentially perfect a house is, many of us accept before moving that it’ll be awhile before we get the place the way we want it. When you first move in you will, after all, be living in someone else’s idea of how a house should be.

While that’s not the end of the world, it could mean your taking longer to settle. That can be problematic when you want the whole process over with. It can certainly drag out the stress of moving in ways you wouldn’t imagine. Luckily, this doesn’t have to be the case. It’s possible to start making a property the way you want before you even move. All you need to do is take care of the following.

Consider the purpose of each room during your viewing

Arranging more than one viewing on any property you like is a good idea. Even after you’ve put an offer in, viewings help with things like measurements. During these last-minute checks, it’s also worth considering the purpose you plan for each room. This can be invaluable when moving day rolls around. For one, you’ll be able to label each box and drop it right where it needs to be. Most importantly, knowing which order you want this new house to be in ensures you can unpack and arrange rooms how you want them from day one. That certainly beats living out of boxes for weeks on end.

Lay the foundations for decorating

When we move, the majority of us don’t start decorating straight away. This is largely because we don’t have the money to do so after buying a house. Even if we did, it isn’t easy to find the time to buy decorating supplies. Which is why you could benefit from laying decorating foundations before moving. If money is the issue, why not seek quick loans from a company like Fast Loan UK? This is a speedy way to get a little extra in the bank, and could more than cover initial decor costs. By taking pictures during viewings, you could even start stocking up on things like paint and wallpaper. Before you even got your furniture in, you would then be able to decorate your new home to your tastes.

Sort as you pack

At the very least, it’s worth sorting your belongings as you pack them. Not everything that you had in your old house is going to fit in your new one. If you try to force it, you’re never going to get that new property the way you want it. Keep this in mind as you pack, and get rid of anything which you can’t visualise in the space. This will save you time and could see your rooms looking right before you know.
