Whether you’re moving home or moving business premises, if you aren’t on top of things it can become highly stressful. With everything life throws at you- family, work, health- the last thing you need is a stressful move. So, if you’re looking for ways to make your move as easy as possible, take a look below.

Know Your New Property

When it comes to moving day, it will be easier if you can organise items by room. If you can mark boxes with whichever room they belong in, it will take you less time to unpack. The alternative is having your living room jam packed with boxes and no-one knows where they belong. Make sure you have at least two viewings of your new property close to moving day. That way, you can decide what goes where before you’ve finished packing.

Purchase Storage

There can be times where there’s a gap between moving out of your old property and moving into your new one. You may find that you have to rent somewhere else as you wait and that could mean you can’t take all your belongings with you. If you know this is a possibility, it’s a good idea to look into storage. But, if you do leave it until last minute, don’t worry. Places like Henfield Storage will allow you to make same day arrangements.

Organise Childcare

Moving into a new home is exciting for children- sometimes too exciting! Setting things up in your new home is a mammoth task and the last thing you need is little legs running around you. Not only because it makes the job a lot more time consuming but also because it can be dangerous too. If you’re able to, organise some childcare for moving day so that’s one less thing on your to-do list. If you’re unable to find childcare, make sure you have plenty to entertain the kids while you’re trying to unpack.

Introduce Pets Beforehand

The last thing you need when you’ve just moved into a new home is your pets whining through the night because they aren’t used to their new surroundings. Just like humans, it can take pets a while to get used to change. But everyone will need their rest. To make sure you don’t have to suffer through howling nights, try taking your dog for a walk in the new area and let them sniff the rooms in the house before you start unpacking.

Give Yourself Plenty of Time

Rome wasn’t built in a day. You may find that there are delays in picking up your new keys or solicitors take longer than they promise to get contracts signed. Moving into a new home can be complicated so try not to put too much pressure on yourself. As long as you unpack the essentials once you’re in, the rest can wait while you settle in. Putting pressure on yourself to create the perfect home in a week will just cause unnecessary stress.

Happy moving!
