Although to some it may not seem like it, living life as a busy twenty-something can be incredibly hard work. There are often high expectations to achieve great things in your career and relationships, so if you’re going at a different pace to everyone else it’s easy to feel as though you’re getting left behind. Whilst that’s what it may feel like, the most important thing to remember is as long as you’re happy and healthy, you’re living a great life!

With that in mind, here are 7 ways to live a happy and healthy life in your twenties:

1. Try To Exercise At Least Once A Day

Even if you only exercise for thirty minutes a day, that little bit can do you the world of good. Whether it’s a brisk walk to work and back, a thirty-minute exercise DVD or a trip to the gym – working out will release those all-important endorphins that make you happy.

2. Drink At Least 2 Litres Of Water A Day

Not only is drinking at least 2 litres of water a day good for your health, but it’s also proven to help boost your mood.

If you struggle to drink 2 litres a day, try purchasing one of those bottles that indicates how much you need to have drunk by a particular timeframe.

3. Ensure You’re Eating A Balanced Diet

Although it may not be possible every day, eating a well-balanced diet will do absolute wonders for your health. Make sure you’re getting your daily recommended allowance of fruit and veg, paired with lots of healthy proteins and carbohydrates to keep you going. 4. Make Sure You’re Having Regular Check-Ups

Regular check-ups are important no matter what your age. Ensure you’re visiting your doctor for important checkups when it comes to your general health, smear tests and contraception.

You never know what can happen so it’s better to be safe than sorry when it comes to things like sexual health and knowing how to treat chlamydia. Book an appointment as soon as you suspect something is wrong.

5. See A Doctor If You Think Something Is Wrong

Similar to above, it’s important you know when you need to see a doctor. Whether you’ve been suffering from a chesty cough or you have a nasty sickness bug, seeing a doctor may be the best way to ensure a speedy recovery. 6. Most Importantly, Look After You

Above all else, it’s important to remember that your happiness comes first. Spend time with the people closest to you, do what makes you happy and practice self-care.

No matter what it is that makes you happy,  ensure that you’ve made time to do it every single day.
