4 Great Alternatives To Your Boring Garden Shed

A good garden shed is handy for storing your lawn mower and old junk that you don’t have room for in the house, but it’s not the most exciting addition to your outdoor space. It takes up a fairly large area and if you’re just using it for storing things that you could probably just throw out anyway, that’s a big waste. You could be using that space for something way more exciting instead. With that in mind, here are some great alternative ideas for your garden shed.

Outdoor Bar

The garden is a great place for entertaining people in the summer, so you should consider making your shed a part of that. It’s fairly easy to turn the shed into an outdoor bar if you just put a small hatch in the side and fit it out with a fridge and a countertop where you can prepare cocktails. If you’ve got a barbecue in the garden, you can also use your outdoor bar for preparing food before you cook it. If you really want to take it to the next level, you can install some pumps out there and buy in a barrel of beer when you’re hosting a party so you can serve people from a real life bar.

Nothing says luxury and relaxation like a sauna. It has loads of amazing health benefits as well because you’ll sweat out a lot of toxins and clear your skin. There are plenty of great sauna suppliers out there that can build a fully functioning sauna out in the back garden. If you’ve already got a shed in place, you just need to make a few changes like adding benches and then you can get the professionals in to do all of the interior workings of the actual sauna itself, so it’s not going to cost as much as you think.

Outdoor Office

If you work from home, a good office space is essential. But if you don’t have enough space in the house itself, you might have to think outside of the box a little. You can easily create a great outdoor office in your shed. As long as you’re close enough to the house, you should still be able to connect to wifi out there. Depending on how much you want to spend, you could install heating and electricity out there. But if you want to do it on the cheap, you can just use portable battery powered heaters. An outdoor office space is often better than working inside because being closer to nature has been proven to improve productivity so you’ll get more done during the day.

Children’s Playhouse

Getting the kids to play outdoors is harder than ever because they’re easily distracted by TV and video games. But you can encourage them to spend more time outside playing if you turn the shed into a great kids playhouse. You could even consider putting a couple of bunk beds out there so the kids can sleep in there when the weather is nice.

If your garden shed is just used for storing old rubbish, you’re not making the most of that garden space, so why not try one of these better alternatives instead?
